Typical shell-length 40 mm. Shell outline more elongated than K. scalarina, and shell bears radial striations between the concentric ridges, which are relatively weak. Lives intertidally in mud, on sheltered shores.
Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmania this is a widespread and locally abundant species; tends to be the dominant Katelysia species in the SE.
