Typical shell-length 50 mm. Specimen illustrated is juvenile and worn; fresh specimens darker with more prominent axial ribs. Lives subtidally amongst rocks and seaweed.
Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmania this species is confined to the N coast and Bass Strait islands.
