Typical shell-length 25 mm. Pale periostracum readily worn off. Lives intertidally and subtidally in sand and mud, especially on sheltered shores.
Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmania this is a widespread species but only locally common, especially so around Flinders Island.
