Phasianellidae - Tricoliinae: Tricolia variabilis (Pease, 1861) ('variable pheasant-shell')  

Synonym(s): variabilis Pease, 1861 virgo Angas, 1867 megastoma Pilsbry, 1895 oligomphala Pilsbry, 1895 bryani Pilsbry, 1917 molokaiensis Pilsbry, 1917 thaanumi Pilsbry, 1917 gregaria Laseron, 1955.

Figures a-b: 1.2 mm, Flinders Island, Tas (N).

Typical shell-length 5.0 mm.  Lives subtidally amongst rocks and seaweed.  Endemic to eastern, western and northern Australia (WA, NT, QLD, NSW, TAS and VIC).
